What is Bodom Trail?

Bodom Trail is one of the most popular trail runs in Finland. It takes place in Pirttimäki recreational forest in Espoo, 30min drive from Helsinki center and even less from Helsinki airport. Parts of the course extend almost to Nuuksio National Park. Bodom Trail combines an inspiring nature experience, an exciting physical challenge and a great atmosphere and suits for all runners from elite to novice.

Bodom Trail has grown to cover three races in two days. Friday’s Bodom Team collects company groups and other teams to spend a sporty afternoon on trails. Bodom Night starts after sunset and takes its participants to the dark Pirttimäki forest where special light effects and torches create special atmosphere. Saturday’s Bodom Trail is the traditional season opening for the Finnish trail running scene since 2014.

Bodom Trail encourages everyone to run on trails and aims at keeping the entry barrier as low as possible. The fine trails of Pirttimäki and three different distances make sure that you can find a trail running challenge that is exactly right level for you. Bodom Trail specialty is an opportunity to decide between 12km and 21km distances based on your own feeling during the run. There is only one start list with for 12/21km runners. After the first, somewhat faster 12km loop you can either run to the finish line or continue to the second, 9km loop in a new area with more technical trails. The 6km distance for juniors and those adults who don’t feel 12km is right for them starts separately.

21km distance is the first race of the seven BUFF Trail Tour Finland events. Men’s and Women’s winners will take home 100 points on their journey towards season’s title. Other runners will get points based on their time difference behind the winners.

Bodom Trail course consists of the best trails and nicest views of Pirttimäki recreational area. The course will be marked very carefully during the event to exclude all uncertainty of navigation.  There will be drinking stations after each 4-6km. The event center Pirttimäki outdoor park is great also for spectators. Event partners will exhibit and sell their products, the cafeteria serves all day, children have their own daycare and spectator maps will be available for watching the race in along the course.
