On March 12, the Finnish government recommended to cancel all public events with more than 500 attendees until the end of May to delay the coronavirus epidemic. Bodom Trail that was originally scheduled for May 8-9 2020 will follow this guideline.
The primary goal of Bodom Trail is to find a new date later this year after the restrictions have ended. We will immediately start searching possible new event dates and will communicate the new date as soon as we can confirm it.
A possible new date depends on several essential elements for the event such as the reservation schedule of event center Pirttimäki recreational area, availability of external partners (timing service, first aid team, etc.), the Finnish trail running calendar and, first and foremost, the capacity of our fantastic volunteer organization. Pretty much the same team is putting together Nuuksio Classic Trail Marathon on Sep 5 and many volunteers are also organizing Helsinki City Trail that takes place on Sep 26.
Bodom Trail has traditionally organized several group runs before the event during spring. The group runs have attracted a nice amount of runners from few tens to more than hundred at a time. This spring, we will organize group runs if the corona situation allows. At least, we will mark the group run course in terrain for your individual training runs.
If you already signed up for Bodom Trail 2020 and are wondering what next, here are our instructions at the moment:
- Wait until we confirm the new date. Attend the event normally. This option doesn’t require any actions from you.
- If the new date doesn’t work for you, we will offer an option to move your starting slot to 2021. We will send instructions when the new date is confirmed.
- If none of the above works, you can sell your starting slot to a new participant.
- We will instruct about cancelling the participation and refunding of the entry fee later.
Keep training, wash your hands and stay healthy!
